I trained as a mosaic artist in Ravenna, Italy. So initially my work followed conventional methods of using hand cut tessera. Now I incorporate both traditional and classic styles in my work to add rhythm and variety. I work predominantly with found and natural materials which add to the narrative of each piece. To be honest I am never certain at the onset of a mosaic how it will develop as I progress...... the unusual break of a tile or piece of glass often creates a different journey.
